I was advised to post my position on Fan Fiction in the interest of protecting my copyrighted work and intellectual property, so this is my position:

I do not condone the use of any of my characters, plots, or settings for derivative works or transformative works. I understand and appreciate the enthusiasm my fans have for my works, as well as their desire to continue my stories, but I must respect and protect my creations. I maintain sole ownership of my characters and do not give consent for them to be used in stories with original plotlines and settings. I respectfully ask that no works incorporating any elements and/or characters of my own creation be published in any medium, including but not limited to print and electronic format. Thank you for respecting my hard work, and I look forward to creating many more stories for you.

    Hoodie. My oh my, what to say about Hoodie. First let me say this is the first novel of yours I've read, but I also have Going Under in my kindle queue, although I feel like I might need to gird my loins to read that one if it is anything like Hoodie! This is a modern day Romeo and Juliet. Still, I wanted an HEA. This book was a heartbreaking roller coaster. I gave it 5 stars but I still HATED the ending. I was bawling at the end, especially when I realized that she was just having a dream and her dream was being lived by another woman. The ending makes me crazy. Ms. Walden, I seriously want to rant and yell at you for this ending. It is just wrong! I love this novel, honest to goodness, LOVE it, but the ending hurts. Please for all that is holy revisit Emma and Anton. Don't let them end this way!!! (on my hands and knees imploring you to not abandon this amazing couple!!!) -Lisa

      I'm listening, and thinking, and devising. Hmm . . . let me go all "businesswoman" on you for a minute. HOODIE was a niche book. I just didn't see an explosion with it. Now maybe that will change. But if I write a sequel, it's gotta be worth my time. (That was the businesswoman.) Now I'm gonna go "writer" on you. I get it. I totally get it. When I started this career I was unaware of how important HEAs are for readers. It makes sense now that I can take a step back and really look at it. Why do we read, after all? To escape our realities, and even if those realities are pretty great. So that's why I'm considering a sequel. But apart from you and a handful of goodreads folks, does anyone really care? That's what I've got to think about as I weigh what project to tackle next.

    Please for my peace of mind and sanity and my broken heart, please give Anton and Emma HEA! I never cried like that after finishing HOODIE this morning. I think it's tragic that Emma whose love for Anton was so pure ended miserable. It's not fair. My God! I cried worse when Anton went home hug his child and wept. How can you do that? I'm going to pimp your book out.

      Thank you for pimping my book, though you may have some angry readers on your hands when they get to the end. I'm not taking the idea of a sequel off the table yet, but it's not a project that's a top priority right now. I know readers are separate for their HEAs, but I'm much more interested in telling a real story. If it, at all, sounds contrived, I'm not interested. And for me, letting them stay together would have been contrived, forced, wrong. I may change my mind, but for now, Hoodie stays a stand-alone. Don't hate me.

    Loved Good Summer, and am anxious for better. I am following you all over (GR, FB, Twitter, here). I generally read on my kindle, but when I really love a story I need to have the paperback. Of course an autographed paperback is a prized possession.

    I loved, loved Going Under so I looked into your other available books. Now I'm really excited to read Good, but I'm impatient, so I'm waiting until the release date of book 2 is announced...keep writing! Thanks for keeping it real--some of us don't mind an UEA if it's true to the story :)
